In Arizona, if your breath or blood test results in a reading of 0.15 or higher, you will be charged with Extreme DUI. If the results show a reading of 0.20 or higher, you will be charged with a Super Extreme DUI.
If you are convicted of an Extreme DUI, you will be ordered to serve 30 days in jail, along with all the usual fines and surcharges associated with Arizona DUI convictions, and an Ignition Interlock Device. You may be eligible for work-release for your 30-day jail sentence, which would entitle you to be out of jail for up to 12 hours a day for 6 days a week.
If you are convicted of Super Extreme DUI, you will be sentenced to 45 days in jail, even for a first offense.
If you are convicted of an Extreme DUI and you have previously been convicted of a DUI within the past 7 years, you will be ordered to serve 120 days in jail, along with the standard penalties such as an Ignition Interlock Device, and a higher fine.
Both forms of Extreme DUI will result in Arizona MVD suspending or revoking your driver’s license. You will lose your privileges to drive for 90 days upon a conviction for Extreme DUI, and Arizona MVD will order a one-year revocation if you are convicted of a Super Extreme DUI.
An aggressive, competent Arizona DUI attorney can help minimize the significant impact a DUI can have in your life.
